200th blog!

Yea! This is the 200th blog I've written. Good grief. I haven't done so well with a diary since I was in my teens. I've still got my diaries from then. Not pleasant reading, I have to say, and not due to the normal teenage glooms either. The 1970s as a whole were a gloomy time for everyone, I think. If I was offered a million quid, I wouldn't go back there again. It's much nicer being here and now.

Happy Birthday to my sister for yesterday, if she's reading!!

Congratulations on your 200th post!

I didn't even keep a diary in my teens - too many prying eyes.

200 posts! Award yourself something indulgent immediately -- your blog has been hugely varied and interesting and much enjoyed by your truly who looks forward to the next 200 posts!

Ah the 70s. Wasn't that the time of hot pants and the 3-day week? No, not a vintage decade. After university, I worked in the dole office in Newcastle upon Tyne during a period when too many people were being made redundant from Swan Hunter's shipyard and Vickers. A sad time for the people and industries of a great city.

Hmm, I'm running out of ideas for posts since I've not got much of a fiction writing life at the moment!

3 day week for who?! I don't remember missing much school on that account (though I might have been off sick anyway) I do remember boiling water in a saucepan on our fire since the electrickery was cut and we couldn't boil the kettle. Coming perilously close to depriving the British public of their cups of tea was not a good strategy ...

Must have been grim for everyone concerned regarding the dole office - shipworkers and staff :-(

Congrats on the 200 posts. Keep up the good work.

I have no idea how many I have, should go count them some day, ;-)
